Becky talks about her role at Capture and her surprise at how easy it is to switch to digital.
Tell us about your role here at Capture
I am one of the new Digital Learning Journal Expert at Capture Education. I’ve always loved working in early years and my job here lets me help nurseries, pre-schools and childminders to come on board with us. I’m always here to help with any enquiries our customers have about learning journals.
I know from personal experience how hard it is to keep organised and find the time to update a paper learning journal. I wish I’d had a system like Capture so it’s really rewarding for me to be able help practitioners that are just like me.
Talk us through your early years experience
Before joining the team, I worked as a nursery practitioner for ten years and within this role I was a room leader of two to five year old and the baby room.
I was then promoted to a Deputy Manager which I did for five years and it was brilliant. I loved working with children and their families, even though sometimes it could be very challenging I found it very rewarding, particularly helping children reach key milestones.
After this, I was looking for a new challenge which led me directly to Capture!
What do you like about working at Capture?
Capture is a great place to work – the office has a lovely, friendly vibe at all times and the team are amazing, always willing to listen and be supportive.
It’s also a really rewarding place to be knowing that what we do has such as a positive impact on the working lives of practitioners. Never again will they have to miss key wow moments or forget to write up those all-important observations!
What have you learnt since joining the team?
There are so many things I’ve learnt since starting at Capture, mainly because it’s so different to what I’ve done in the past!
I never knew how easy it was for a nursery to go digital with a learning journal and how much time and money they can save, especially when it comes to printing!
I’ve also learnt how easy it is to get parents engaged using a digital learning journal and how Ofsted love the parental engagement. This is something we found really difficult when I was a practitioner but Capture does the trick!
What are you looking forward to at Capture over the next 12 months?
I’m really excited to get more childminders, nurseries and pre-schools on board with their learning journals and helping them get over their fear of going digital!
